17. CAMP GENESEE

Camp Genesee was located on the site which later became the Rose Garden in Maplewood Park, along Lake Avenue. The 14th New York Heavy Artillery trained there. The camp consisted mainly of tents and did not continue after the fall of 1863, when soldiers either were sent off to the war or to warmer winter quarters.
