MANY ROADS TO FREEDOM:
ABOLITIONIST AND CIVIL WAR SITES IN ROCHESTER

15. WARRANT HOMESTEAD

The Warrant Homestead, at 1956 West Henrietta Road in Brighton, was built in 1821 by Thomas White Warrant. Over the years, its original L-shaped, brick-lined structure was enlarged, covered with wood, and a cupola was added. The site is reputed to have been  a stop on the Underground Railroad, which helped escaped slaves travel undetected to freedom in Canada.
