MANY ROADS TO FREEDOM:
THE HENRY L. ACHILLES PAPERS AT ROCHESTER PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Henry L. Achilles Papers Collection

In 1965, Henry L. Achilles' granddaughter, Mrs. Ferris S. Moulton of San Francisco, California, donated Captain Achilles' collection of Civil War items to Rochester Public Library. The collection consists of over 30 items. Most of the items deal with Capt. Achilles' term of service as captain of Company K of the 27th Regiment, and include letters, muster in and out rolls, a battle plan book, various Army passes, a pay roll, petitions, a signed proclamation, blank Army forms, an enlistment roll, newspaper clippings and other miscellaneous items. There is one item, an abstract of title, which does not seem to pertain to Captain Achilles' war experience.
