This firm of architects, which now ranks among the first in the State, is a remarkable instance of a speedy recognition of worth by the public; the brothers Harvey and Charles Ellis having opened their office to this city but little over three years ago, prior to which time their profession was practical in  the city of New York and elsewhere.  [For] gentlemen are due many of the [finest] business blocks in the city, noticeably upon St. Paul Street, which thoroughfare exhibits no less than three large specimens of their artistic and practical training, as well as their thorough knowledge of this, the most difficult of the fine arts. A number of exceedingly quaint and picturesque Queen Anne houses, also from this office, are as [piquant] and homelike as these large buildings are calm, stately and substantial. The advent of this firm is a matter of congratulations for our citizens as they have struck out from the beaten paths and given to us a fresh, beautiful and in every way admirable practice in architecture.
