Life long learning is a wonderful prescription for a complete life that I subscribe to. The public library is one of the most valuable structural assets a community possesses and is the main cornerstone for life long learning. That is why I place a great value on and have a deep respect for libraries.

I am a life long resident of Irondequoit, and a graduate of IHS. I have a strong connection and commitment to this great neighborhood and I wish to continue contributing to our community's positive growth. Raised with Ukrainian culture, language and history, I have a deep understanding of diversity and multiculturalism. I will utilize my acquired skills and business sense from my professional and personal experiences as a speech language therapist, adjunct college instructor, business owner, and volunteer for our school district, church, sports and overall community. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve our community as a Library Board Trustee.

Ms. Miriam Ganze
Treasurer
Term Expires: 12/31/12
I first became interested in libraries at about ten years old when my sister and I would be sent to the library to scour the shelves to find mystery books for our grandmother who read a book a day until her late 80's. To this day, I cannot pass up a good mystery and have lost way too much sleep reading into the wee hours to find out "who dunnit".

The love of reading I learned from my grandmother took me to a BA and MA in English and a career of teaching English (both 'regular' and English to non-native speakers) the last fifteen years of which were spent at MCC from where I retired in January 2006.

Except for college and a couple of years living in Germany, I have lived my whole in Irondequoit. I met my husband teaching at Irondequoit High School. We settled here and raised our daughter and son here. Five years ago, our daughter and her husband moved here from Arlington VA and they too now make their home with their nine year old son and three year old daughter in Irondequoit. Our son, who is still single, has also chosen to live here (at least for now), so my husband and I are treasuring a retirement with family close by.

Having lived here all my life, I know that the schools and the library have been important cornerstones in the quality of life in this town. I am happy to give whatever experience and energy I have to ensure that the love of learning and especially the love of libraries can be passed on to future generations of young families in our town.

Ms. Karyl Mammano, PhD.
Trustee At Large
Term Expires: 12/31/13
I have been a resident of Irondequoit for over 30 years. I have been teaching Accounting and Not-For-Profit Management at the college level for the past 9 years and, prior to teaching, worked in upper management positions in health and human service organizations.

My love of the library started as a child when I would check out as many books as I could carry. I believe the library is invaluable as a resource to secure knowledge, to open doors to new worlds, and to stimulate creativity and imagination. I enjoy my position as a Trustee and look forward to continue to serve as we move forward with a new library building.

Ms. Elaine Cole
Trustee At Large
Term Expires: 12/31/11
My husband Bill and I have lived in Irondequoit since 1979. Our two daughters are in college, both graduated from Irondequoit High School. We are all avid readers and love our local libraries. I am a lawyer for the New York State Tax Department. I am on the Board of the Rochester Childfirst Network Foundation, the Board of Trustees of the Monroe County Bar Association and I have been president of the Rochester Association for Women Attorneys. My particular interest in being on the Library Board is helping the library bring the very best service to its loyal fans.

Dr. David Heffer, D.C.
Trustee At Large
Term Expires: 12/31/14
Fourteen years ago when I had the opportunity to relocate my family to western New York there were 3 major reasons why I chose Irondequoit, family ties, the Irondequoit Public Library and the small school districts. I am a doctor of chiropractic, my grandfather (Norris W. Heffer, DC) was born and raised in Irondequoit, as were his children (Robert N. Heffer, DC [my father] and Doris A. Blake {Heffer}, DC [my aunt]).

From my personal observation of the volume of patrons at all hours of the day and evening, combined with the genuine interest by the staff, it was apparent to me that the Irondequoit Public Libraries were the place to be. After establishing my practice in Irondequoit, I applied to be a Trustee of the Irondequoit Public Library. In December of 1998 I was selected to fill a vacant position on the Library Board of Trustees. It is a privilege to serve as part of that great American institution, the public library.
