Newspapers Indexes and Databases

Databases with a icon are available free to the public via NOVELny, a project of the New York State Library federally funded by LSTA funds.

Democrat and Chronicle
Beginning July 1, 2009 access to the Democrat and Chronicle is via ProQuest and includes backfiles from 2007 - to date. ProQuest will be loading the remaining backfiles (back to 1999) and the load should be completed by the Fall.

Gale Custom Newspapers (all) 
Database of 150 full-text newspapers, including the New York Times (most recent 12 months), Christian Science Monitor, Boston Herald and the Denver Post.

Gale Custom Newspapers (New York State Newspapers)  
Eight full-text newspapers for New York State (from Buffalo, New York City and Syracuse) including: The Buffalo News and the Syracuse Post-Standard.

Gale National Newspaper Index  
Provides indexing of American's top five newspapers: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post.

These databases are available in every public library in Monroe County, and from your PC at home or at work. Check with individual libraries and divisions for specific products not listed here.
