Chili Public Library Programs

         Adult Programs                    

Book Bingo is back and will run from September 8 through October 17.  Pick up a Book Bingo at the library then just read five books of the genres listed on the Bingo sheet!  After you've read a book, enter the title and author and initial the square.  When you've completed a row, column or diagonal, bring your board to the library to receive a prize!  All prizes must be claimed by October 24.  Book Bingo is open to anyone 18 years or older.  Please only one Bingo per person!
 

Scrabble Club for all ages will meet Thursday, October 2, November 6 and December 4 from 3:30-5 pm.  There is no registration for this program.


 
  Book Discussion will be held on Tuesday, October 7.  The book to be discussed is Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson.  Book Discussion is sponsored by the Friends of the Chili Public Library.  This program is free and open to the public.  No registration necessary. 
 



Come on a South African Safari with Barbara Moore on Wednesday, October 8 at 7 pm.  You are sure to be entertained by this African adventure!  No registration necessary.
 




The Friends of the Chili Public Library will hold their annual meeting with the program of Singer/Guitarist Steve Petrovich (Retro Petro) on Tuesday, October 14 at 7pm.
  Steve will entertain us with his energetic singing of music from the 40-s through the 70's!  No registration is necessary for this free adult program sponsored by the Friends.   
 

Wii for Adults will be held on October 15, from 10 am - noon.  Have you been wondering what in the world Wii is and why kids and teens are fascinated with it?  We welcome the young at heart to join us and learn what all the excitement is about!  No registration necessary.
 

Join us for the Classic Movie Film Festival at the CPL on the following Tuesdays at 6:30 pm:  October 21, November 11 and December 9.  Refreshments will be provided.  The library may only post the titles of the movies in house, so please call the library for the current month's movie title.    No registration necessary.
 

  AARP Driver Safety Program will be held on two Saturdays,  October 11 and October 18 from 9am-1pm.   Participants must attend both sessions.  This program is designed for drivers aged 50+.  Graduates are entitled to a 10% discount on automobile insurance.  Please bring your valid driver's license and a check for $10 or money order payable to AARP (no cash will be accepted) to the first session.  AARP membership is not required to take the course.  Registration is now full.


"Passport Services to the Community" program will be held on Wednesday, November 12 from 5:30-7:30 pm.  For information on identification requirements and fees for passports, click here.  For forms, click hereRegistration begins on Wednesday, October 22.
 

  Free Computer Classes!  Introductory Internet and E-Mailing classes will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.  Classes will start at 9:15 am and run about one hour.  Register at the Information Desk or call the library.
 

Children's Programs   

  Scrabble Club for all ages will meet the first Thursday of the month, October 2, November 6, and December 4 from 3:30-5 pm.  There is no registration for this program.
 

  Kids Chess Club will meet Thursdays, October 9, 23, November 13 and December 11 from 3:30-5 pm.  Kids up to the age of 18 are welcome (children under age 12 must have a parent in the library.)  Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 29 from 12 noon-4pm.  Please pre-register for tournaments.

  Balloon Crazy with Just Clowning Around will be held on Monday, October 13, Columbus Day at 2 pm.  Learn about the science of balloons and watch as they make creations out of balloons. All ages are welcome.  Registration is required and begins on September 29.   Fall Craft for ages 3-12 will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 7 pm.  Registration begins on Monday, October 6.


 

Halloween Party for ages 2-12 will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 11 am.  Come dressed in your costume and enjoy stories, a craft, refreshments and trick or treating around the library.  Registration begins on Monday, October 13.
 

Storytimes

  Preschool Storytime for ages 4 and 5 will begin the week of October 20 and run for 5 weeks.  Choose from Mondays at 1:30 pm, Tuesdays at 10 am, Wednesdays at 10 am and Thursdays at 7 pm.  Registration begins on Monday, October 6.



 
 Toddler Storytime, for 2 and 3 year olds will begin the week of September 15 and run for four weeks.  Choose from Mondays at 1:30 pm, Tuesdays at 10 am, Wednesdays at 10 am and Thursdays at 7 pm.  Registration begins on Tuesday, September 2.

The next session will begin the week of December 1 and run for three weeks.  Registration begins on Monday, November 17.

 

  Infant Storytime for babies and toddlers up to 24 months of age will be held on the following Tuesdays at 11am:  October 7, 21, 28, November 4, 11, 18, December 2, 9, 16.  No registration necessary.


 

  Simply Stories, a drop-in storytime for children of all ages with no registration required will be held on the following Thursdays at 10 am:  October 2, 9, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20, December 4, 11, 18.

 

Book Discussions

 Books 'N' Bites, a book discussion for grades 4-6 will be held on the second Thursday of each month from 4-5 pmDates include October 9, November 13 and December 11.  In October we will be discussing Ghost in Room 11 by Betty Ren Wright.  No registration required.

 
  Books 'N' Nibbles, a book discussion for children in grades 1-3 is held on the third Thursday of each month, from 4-4:45 pmDates include October 16, November 20 and December 18.  In September we will be discussing the book Mercy Watson: Princess in Disguise by Kate DiCamillo.  No registration required.

Teen Programs


The Junior Friends of the Chili Public Library are sponsoring a month long "Kids for Kids" drive to benefit Foodlink.  Non-perishable food items that are good fro after-school snacks may be dropped off at the display in the library.  Some recommended donations are: 100% juice boxes, individual boxes of raisins, granola bars, fruit cups, tuna, and peanut butter and jelly.

  Books B'Tween the Lines, a book discussion for grades 6-8 will held on Wednesday October 1 at 7 pm.  We will be discussing the book Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah.  No registration required. 
 
  Are you interested in becoming a Junior Friend of the Library?  This group is for grades 6 through 12.  You will volunteer your time and assist with various programs and needs throughout the library.  The next meeting will be held on Wednesday October 1 at 6 pm.
