RUNDEL LIBRARY FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT
Rundel Library Foundation is an incorporated, not-for-profit public charity that
develops and implements cost-effective fund raising, marketing and public relations
programs to support the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County and the Rochester
Public Library. The Foundations primary goals are to raise private and public funds
to help ensure the librarys financial security and to provide public relations
services to help build broad public support for the librarys programs.
On an ongoing basis, the Foundation complements regular government appropriations to
Rochester Public Library through (1) gifts to an annual fund raising campaign run in
conjunction with the Friends of the Rochester Public Library, (2) special grants from
corporations, individuals, charitable foundations and government funding sources, (3)
earnings generated by a permanent endowment fund, (4) individual gifts made through wills
and trusts, and (5) income from the sale of books and library related items through the
Library Store.
Funds from these sources are used to expand library programs, to support capital
improvements at public libraries, to ensure the appropriate maintenance of library
facilities, and to support needed professional resources, services and staff.
Periodically, the Foundation manages special capital campaigns to secure funds for major
expansion and renovation.
Through ongoing communication, the Foundation seeks to coordinate its efforts with other
public libraries and library support groups throughout Monroe County, and whenever
possible acts as a source of information and counsel for other Monroe County public
libraries.
The Foundation conducts all of its affairs in the most ethical manner possible according
to appropriate, generally-accepted rules of professional conduct.
