Circulation Policies

Library Cards

Library card applications are available at the Circulation Desk in the Bausch & Lomb Public Library Building, and the Rundel Memorial Building, 1st floor. One form of identification with your current residence; or two forms of identification that together establish your identity and residence are required.

Applications for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade are available in the Children's Center (2nd floor of the Bausch & Lomb Public Library Building).

Loan Periods

For most materials, the loan period is three weeks. Exceptions include Videos, which are loaned for one week; CD Roms, loaned for two weeks; and Framed Prints and Choral Music, loaned for eight weeks. Most materials are renewable, providing that no one else has placed a "hold" on the item. Videos are not renewable. You may renew items online using LIBRAWeb, in person with your library card number at the Circulation Desks, or by telephone. Please have your library card number handy when you call the Circulation Department at 428-8180.

Rules and policies

  • Present your library card when you borrow materials.
  • Check out all materials before you leave the building.
  • You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card. Parents and legal guardians are responsible for the selection and return of materials borrowed by minor children.
  • Report a lost or stolen card immediately by calling 428-8180 or your local library. You are responsible for materials borrowed on your card until the loss or theft is reported. Your first card is free; a fee of $1.00 will be charged for replacements.
  • Notify the library if your home address or telephone number changes.
  • Library cards are valid for a period of one year. Your card will be renewed free of charge after you have provided verification of your current address.
  • Look at the date due receipt you are given when checking out library materials. Loan periods vary. You may borrow materials free of charge, but there is a fine for overdue items. You will receive notice of overdue materials by phone or mail.
  • Fines stop increasing once materials are returned. You may pay fines at any library return desk during regular hours. Do not put fine payment in overdue items returned in a book drop or left on a counter.
  • If materials are lost or damaged, you will be charged the replacement price plus a non-refundable $5.00 processing fee.
  • Failure to pay fines of $5.00 or more or to return overdue items will result in the loss of your borrowing privileges. Delinquent accounts which exceed $35 (a combination of replacement cost and fines) will be turned over to a collection agency. An additional $15 fee will be added to accounts referred to a collection agency
